INSTALLATIONS
Yvette Janine Jackson’s work in sound installation began with a collaboration with visual artist Su-Chen Hung on a commission celebrating the 40th anniversary of Intersection for the Arts. Jackson eventually developed an independent practice creating immersive and site-specific installations that integrate sound, light, video, and architecture into narrative listening experiences.
Her work includes RETURN, commissioned for James Turrell’s Twilight Epiphany Skyspace at Rice University; a solo exhibition at the Tang Teaching Museum; installations at San Diego Art Institute and Video Pool; and permanent installations at Wave Farm and the International African American Museum. Her collaborative projects include A Chance Encounter at TONSPUR_passage in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier; Swan, featured in Sonya Clark’s Heavenly Bound at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum; and immersive audiovisual installations created with longtime collaborator Ava Porter.
